Missing

I tend to miss things. I miss the train often. I miss the point sometimes. I miss the best part of the day stuck at my computer in an ugly office. I miss the post. I miss the till que that is moving fastest. I miss the smile from my neighbor as I rush past her to get to work. I miss the fear in my own voice. I miss the opportunity to leap. I miss the important amend my client gave me because I’m so tired I can barely hear my own thoughts, let alone hers. I miss the movie because I’m still editing powerpoint slides. I miss the chances. I miss so many things, but most of all, I miss him. I miss his never ending kindness. I miss his quietness. I miss his patience. I miss his guidance. I miss my father so very much. And missing doesn’t seem to get any softer. It keeps digging into me. Missing is making me harder. I miss the times when I missed nothing.

I have been following Lewis Dryburhg on Twitter for what seems like years because I have enjoyed his posts so much, but for what I think in reality has only been several months. Today, he tweeted the link to his wordpress blog, here: http://amessageforyou.wordpress.com/.

He is leaving random notes in random places. The notes are just stunningly simple and exquisitely beautiful. Today, he received an email from someone who found one, and who loved it.

I applaud Lewis. I wish there more people like this in the world.

I have no idea who this couple is. They were just walking in front of me on a Sunday, holding hands. All I had was my iPhone. So I took a quick pic of them. I like old people in love. I’d like to be one myself one day.

My lovely mate Richard married the woman in his life – Polly May. They got married at Headingham Castle in Essex. Such a lovely venue. I shot in RAW so it’s taking my mac forever to convert and edit, but it’s worth it. I shot with my 5D only, and took just one camera. In hindsight, I wish I had taken both! What a lovely day, and a beautiful couple. Here’s to the rest of your lives together guys!

It’s been raining for weeks in the UK. Literally. I’m definitely over it. And now, I’m thinking I need to plan a holiday somewhere hot and lovely. I notice I am probably the only person in the world who has yet to go to Thailand. This is my mission.

If you have yet to be priviledged anough to see the womderful animations of EB Hu, try ‘Lucky’ on for size. This is just so beautiful. Me heart weeps watching it – apologies for the drama. We are a great race. But we do so much damage. And you know we do. All credits to EB & team. Amazing backing track from Philip Sheppard too. Touched.

I have an older brothe called Grant who is an amazing photographer. And he came to London a little while ago for a visit. We had a boozy lunch, talked rubbish and laughed a lot. I miss him so. He lives in Australia so he is a long way a way. Loves ya Granto!

Another weekend, another wedding. Although this one was just delightful. Dan & Caron Hill celebrated their decision to forever more be Mr & Mrs in a field in the middle of somewhere beautiful. Caron looked divine and Daniel was proud as punch. It was a bloody great day by all accounts. A wedding with a flare. Congratulations to the Hill’s – they fit. And it was such a pleasure to see.
